The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's rule on Electronic Logging Devices is almost here, required by December 18, 2017, and the FMCSA wants to make sure you know all about them. A new public education campaign is designed to help commercial motor vehicle drivers transition to electronic logging devices has been announced. Cities include Walcott, Iowa, Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, Ontario, California, Orlando, Florida, and Kansas City, Missouri.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced on July 10, 2017, its electronic logging device (ELD) Implementation National Tour – a tour designed to educate the public and increase awareness to help commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers transition to ELDs.
In several cities across the country, FMCSA expert representatives will present information focussed on drivers and their implementation of ELD. As required by law, all carriers subject to the ELD Rule must convert from paper or software based logging to the use of a registered ELD, unless they have an Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD). The deadline for compliance is December 18, 2017. At the tour locations, FMCSA personnel will be available at the interactive exhibit booths to answer questions and educate those affected by the new ELD Rule. They can help drivers understand their responsibilities and provide resources to them.
FMCSA’s ELD Implementation National Tour dates and locations are as follows:

July 13-15 – Iowa 80 Truckstop Jamboree (Walcott, Iowa)
