A Dump Truck Driver Rear-Ends Public Transport Bus in Whitaker Pennsylvania, Approximately 3 Miles From Pittsburgh PA.

Approximately 20 People Were On The Bus At The Time Of The Bus Crash.

The accident occurred on September 4, 2015 when a Dump Truck, which was hauling asphalt, crashed into the back of an Allegheny Pennsylvania Port Authority bus. 12 people were sent to the hospital with injuries. Most of the injuries were neck and back pain.

"That's one of the most vulnerable times for a bus with passengers on board when they're either getting off the bus or coming on," said Chief Alvin Henderson with Allegheny County PA Emergency Services.

The dump truck is owned by Sid Mendlowitz Trucking of Glassport, Pennsylvania.

Whitaker Pennsylvania Mayor David Sabol commented on how dangerous the intersection where the crash occurred has become. The mayor has asked the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to install a stop sign at that intersection.
