Commercial Drivers Asked to Try Stereo

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) based in Arlington, VA recently sent out an announcement from ASA Electronics which is based in Elkhart IN. ASA, the distributor of Jenson Mobile stereo products, is looking for some truckers to test a new stereo system. The JENSEN® JCV2015BT stereo system is part of the “Heavy Duty” line of products.

The announcement read in part: “Are you looking for an affordable way to increase driver safety? The JENSEN® JCV2015BT stereo maximizes driver safety by automatically muting all other audio when incoming messages are being relayed. Once the message has been received in full, the stereo resumes, allowing drivers to maintain unwavering control and attention to the road.”

While not specific, we believe they are talking about text (SMS) messages delivered the driver’s cell phone. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has formally banned texting while operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).

It appears that this technology encourages Texting while driving and brings additional distractions to the cab of an 18 wheeler.
