John Jay Lady Students - Hackathon


Two John Jay College of Criminal Justice Female Students Recognized in New York City, NY

The ladies recently put their white hat hacking skills to test and won prizes in the ATT Wireless Women in Technology Hackathon for Good.

The Hackathon was held in New York City. The hackathon encourages white hat hacking and giving back by generating programs that do good for society.

Marta Orlowska and Nyvia De Jesus who won the prizes are both seniors at John Jay college of criminal justice in New York, New York. In less than six hours, the two created a mobile device app called "Jailbreak My Life" which helps those who have been released from prison reintegrate into society.

AT&T, a multinational telecommunications company, which is headquartered in Dallas Texas, sponsored the event. The Dallas company has been supporting an organization called Women In Technology International (WITI). WITI has, for several years now, been holding hackathons. These hackathons bring together ladies who wish to develop their skills and pair them with corporate executives to create applications and solutions that will resolve issues facing society.
